Recently, I and the other presidents of the prom committee have been working to finalize all of the plans for prom. I am inc charge of community roll-out, which means that I organize how we present the theme to the rest of the school. I gathered a small group of about 10 students to work on how to present the theme at our school's community meeting. The theme for our prom is Bridgerton, which is a show on Netflix. At the beginning of the show the Queen picks a diamond of the season, so we thought it would be cool to do a prom theme of the season. We had people dress up in different themes like a cowboy, disco, Rihanna Super Bowl halftime performance, college, and Disney. I and a person I am training to take my role next year created a script for the skit that we would do, as well as set up all of the music. We then went over the full script with everyone and made edits and adjustments according. During the community meeting, we presented the skit and everyone seemed to love it. People were laughing a clapping during the entire thing, so I think that the committee did a really great job. I definitely could not have made the script without the help of other people that I got during the planning process. Additionally, I don't think the skit would have gone so well if I didn't have all the people I had for the skit performing it, because they all brought different elements in that made the skit fun and enjoyable for the audience.

Yesterday, my high school had our Lunar New Year celebration. For the past three years, I have been organizing the celebrations. This year, the teacher who supervises my planning wanted to have our celebration with the middle school, so we can get more students involved. I thought this was a great idea, but I was at first worried about how we would accommodate a lot more people in our activities, as we would be going from about 110 people to 180. This meant that I had to purchase a lot more materials for each activity so that all students and faculty could get participate. We also wanted to make sure we all were staying together and really integrating middle school and high school. For Lunar New Year, we always provide lunch, so I thought it would be good to serve food in the middle school, then require that everyone eats in the high school or on the quad. This way, we were all staying together instead of separating into our building. I think that this worked well to keep us all togeth...

For the past two weeks, my school has been in A-Term. A- Term is a two-week period where we study something intensively for two weeks. There are group options and people can also do independent A-Terms. This year I did a San Francisco city study A-Term, with a group of students. We spent a week in San Francisco learning about the culture and different districts there. My favorite day that we spent in San Francisco was the day that we went to the Exploratorium, which is a science museum near Fisherman's Wharf. In the afternoon that day, we went to Golden Gate Park, where we explored the Japanese Tea Garden, did a 3-mile hike, saw bison, and went to the tulip garden. The park was so beautiful. I also really enjoyed our tour of Chinatown, because we got to learn a lot about the traditions and history of San Francisco's Chinatown. Traveling in a group is definitely quite difficult because it is a lot of people going to places together and I spent a whole week with people that I was...

As part of my school's Odyssey Week, we spend the day at Brazos Bend State Park. While we were there the school held a cooking competition, in which we were all split into groups of about six to nine people. At the beginning of the day, we got into our groups and worked together to figure out the meal we would be making. Since there were a lot of us, I had to make sure that I was actively listening to everyone's opinions and dietary restrictions. Listening is a very important skill for group work and I think that I was able to use that skill well when trying to figure out our meal plan. We all agreed on making chicken kabobs, salad, and smores. I and another person from my group then went to the store to buy all of the items we would need for our meal. Going to the store with another person was very beneficial because we were able to split up the work or calculating the prices and finding items, which made the whole shopping process go a lot quicker. I was als...
