Today, I decided to practice doing my makeup. I recently got a new skin tint and primer, so I wanted to test out my makeup with it and practice doing some eyeshadow looks. My makeup skills are not very strong because I only wear it sometimes, and when I do I usually have a friend help me, mainly with my eyes. I started with my base, so primer first, then I used the skin tint. I really liked how they looked and applying them was really easy. I think went on to contour my cheeks and jawline. I felt like I actually did a good job with contour this time because I usually don't put enough and don't blend it well, but this time it looked well blended. I also tried a new blush, which I think looked okay. I generally don't really like how the blush looks on my face, but I think that the blush color I got was pretty nice. After doing the base of my face, I went to work on doing eye makeup. I decided that I wanted to try two different looks. The first I did was an eyeliner look. I used brown eyeshadow for the liner. The liner I did on my right eye looked really good in my opinion, but the left eye was definitely not even with the right eye. I had to redo it about two times before I got it right. I like how the eyeliner looked on my eye, so I would definitely do an eyeliner look again and I think that I am pretty good at doing it. I next tried to do an eyeshadow look that transitions from dark brown to gold. I first put a medium brown over my entire eyelid. I then added a darker brown to the outer edge of my eye and worked to blend it with the medium brown. Blending it was actually really hard because it was hard for me to tell how well-blended it was. After trying to blend the two shades of brown, I went on to add the gold. This step was easy because I just layered it on the inner part of my eye and blended it out slightly. I definitely think this last eyeshadow look could use a lot of improvement but I think it went pretty well.

Yesterday, my high school had our Lunar New Year celebration. For the past three years, I have been organizing the celebrations. This year, the teacher who supervises my planning wanted to have our celebration with the middle school, so we can get more students involved. I thought this was a great idea, but I was at first worried about how we would accommodate a lot more people in our activities, as we would be going from about 110 people to 180. This meant that I had to purchase a lot more materials for each activity so that all students and faculty could get participate. We also wanted to make sure we all were staying together and really integrating middle school and high school. For Lunar New Year, we always provide lunch, so I thought it would be good to serve food in the middle school, then require that everyone eats in the high school or on the quad. This way, we were all staying together instead of separating into our building. I think that this worked well to keep us all togeth...

For the past two weeks, my school has been in A-Term. A- Term is a two-week period where we study something intensively for two weeks. There are group options and people can also do independent A-Terms. This year I did a San Francisco city study A-Term, with a group of students. We spent a week in San Francisco learning about the culture and different districts there. My favorite day that we spent in San Francisco was the day that we went to the Exploratorium, which is a science museum near Fisherman's Wharf. In the afternoon that day, we went to Golden Gate Park, where we explored the Japanese Tea Garden, did a 3-mile hike, saw bison, and went to the tulip garden. The park was so beautiful. I also really enjoyed our tour of Chinatown, because we got to learn a lot about the traditions and history of San Francisco's Chinatown. Traveling in a group is definitely quite difficult because it is a lot of people going to places together and I spent a whole week with people that I was...

As part of my school's Odyssey Week, we spend the day at Brazos Bend State Park. While we were there the school held a cooking competition, in which we were all split into groups of about six to nine people. At the beginning of the day, we got into our groups and worked together to figure out the meal we would be making. Since there were a lot of us, I had to make sure that I was actively listening to everyone's opinions and dietary restrictions. Listening is a very important skill for group work and I think that I was able to use that skill well when trying to figure out our meal plan. We all agreed on making chicken kabobs, salad, and smores. I and another person from my group then went to the store to buy all of the items we would need for our meal. Going to the store with another person was very beneficial because we were able to split up the work or calculating the prices and finding items, which made the whole shopping process go a lot quicker. I was als...
