Last Sunday, I did a student meet-up for Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN). A student meet-up is where students participating as delegates in an MMUN conference, can meet each other and meet some members of the bureau. The bureau facilitated the student meet-up and lead their own breakout rooms, which is what I did. I did two sessions, one for middle school and one for high school. During the meet up we presented these two different games, one about sustainable development goals, and another about different topics of interest like sports, books, and movies. We used the sustainable development goals game for upper elementary students and the topics of interest game for middle schoolers. Initially, it was hard to get the students engaged, but after a few minutes, most of the students were really engaged with the games. Student meet-ups are really important for MMUN because it makes the students more comfortable with talking about different topics with new people. I personally really enjoyed talking about the sustainable development goals, because it was really cool to hear all the student's solutions for reaching the different goals. I think doing things like this are so important because teaching children to have a voice and be involved in the issues we are facing today, is really important for moving towards a better future.

I had them pick their top three topic choices so that I can sort them into groups based on their topic choices. When I got their forms back I started working on sorting them all into their topics and committee sections, with the other interns that I work with. This process was quite difficult, because some topics did not have enough people that chose them, so some student...
