This past week was my first week of school. Since I am a senior now the school asked us to help Plan orientation week. I volunteered to plan ice breaker activities, get involved presentation, activity fair, and odyssey presentation. I was in a small group for each of the groups. It was really good being in small groups because we were able to bounce ideas off of each other and come up with a good plan for each thing. This was especially useful for the icebreaker activities because we had three icebreakers that we had to plan for each day of the week. All of them were whole school icebreakers so it needed quite a bit more thought put into it. Presenting was also easier because multiple people got to talk, so I did not have to make a whole presentation and present the entire thing. My favorite activity was the activity fair that we had. I liked this one the most because it was something that we were not able to have due to covid, so I was glad we were able to bring it back. I thought the activity fair went really well and everyone was really engaged. I think that each activity went really smoothly and wera all planned very well. I don't think the entire week would have been as successful as it was if we did not work in groups to plan everything.
Yesterday, my high school had our Lunar New Year celebration. For the past three years, I have been organizing the celebrations. This year, the teacher who supervises my planning wanted to have our celebration with the middle school, so we can get more students involved. I thought this was a great idea, but I was at first worried about how we would accommodate a lot more people in our activities, as we would be going from about 110 people to 180. This meant that I had to purchase a lot more materials for each activity so that all students and faculty could get participate. We also wanted to make sure we all were staying together and really integrating middle school and high school. For Lunar New Year, we always provide lunch, so I thought it would be good to serve food in the middle school, then require that everyone eats in the high school or on the quad. This way, we were all staying together instead of separating into our building. I think that this worked well to keep us all togeth...
