C LO#5

This weekend my school is having a prom. Our theme for this year is Hollywood. I am part of the prom planning committee, so yesterday I was helping with decorations. On Thursday morning, I was helping to put together the Oscars. The committee decided that the seniors would all get Oscars with their names on them so that they can be recognized. We have about 25 seniors so this task didn't take that long, but my friend, Isabelle, helped me put all the names on the Oscars. I then worked on putting Hollywood-themed wrappers on mini Hershey chocolates. There were a lot of wrappers and chocolate, so Isabelle and one of my other friends, helped wrap the chocolates, which make the task a lot quicker to finish. In the afternoon, Isabelle was working on the signs for the food table, so I helped her pick a theme for the background of the sign and put the signs in the frames. 

On Friday I went to the actual venue to set up some things for prom. One of the table decorations was a bowl filled with clear orbeez and mini gold and black balls. We used the orbeez to make sure the gold and black balls stayed in one place. We added water to the bowls to make it look like the gold and black balls were just floating. There were quite a few centerpieces to do, so a group of three of us worked on them. the other two people filled the bowls with the clear orbeez and added water to them, while I placed the black and gold balls in them. We also worked on putting together all the tables. Having a group to work on the decoration was really great because we were able to finish in just 30 minutes and it was really fun to work together.

Yesterday, my high school had our Lunar New Year celebration. For the past three years, I have been organizing the celebrations. This year, the teacher who supervises my planning wanted to have our celebration with the middle school, so we can get more students involved. I thought this was a great idea, but I was at first worried about how we would accommodate a lot more people in our activities, as we would be going from about 110 people to 180. This meant that I had to purchase a lot more materials for each activity so that all students and faculty could get participate. We also wanted to make sure we all were staying together and really integrating middle school and high school. For Lunar New Year, we always provide lunch, so I thought it would be good to serve food in the middle school, then require that everyone eats in the high school or on the quad. C LO#5

Recently, I and the other presidents of the prom committee have been working to finalize all of the plans for prom. I am inc charge of community roll-out, which means that I organize how we present the theme to the rest of the school. I gathered a small group of about 10 students to work on how to present the theme at our school's community meeting. The theme for our prom is Bridgerton, which is a show on Netflix. At the beginning of the show the Queen picks a diamond of the season, so we thought it would be cool to do a prom theme of the season. We had people dress up in different themes like a cowboy, disco, Rihanna Super Bowl halftime performance, college, and Disney. I and a person I am training to take my role next year created a script for the skit that we would do, as well as set up all of the music. C LO#2

Today, I decided to practice doing my makeup. I recently got a new skin tint and primer, so I wanted to test out my makeup with it and practice doing some eyeshadow looks. My makeup skills are not very strong because I only wear it sometimes, and when I do I usually have a friend help me, mainly with my eyes. I started with my base, so primer first, then I used the skin tint. I really liked how they looked and applying them was really easy. I think went on to contour my cheeks and jawline. I felt like I actually did a good job with contour this time because I usually don't put enough and don't blend it well, but this time it looked well blended. I also tried a new blush, which I think looked okay. I generally don't really like how the blush looks on my face, but I think that the blush color I got was pretty nice.
