Today, I had my third internship meeting with my supervisor. This meeting was a little later than usual since my supervisor had been very busy and had no open slots available. However, I still wanted to stick to our three-week schedule so I sent in the slides I made beforehand so that when we got to our meeting my supervisor could tell me any edits he wanted me to make. I then scheduled our meeting for today so that we could go over everything and my supervisor could introduce my new topic. As we did last time we went over the slides that I had created. This week's slides were based on Ethereum moving from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake, which is how the network would authorize and certify the work miners do. In my slides, I outlined the plans for this change, why they are making the change, the benefit of the change, and the schedule the change is supposed to be on. This topic was a little hard for me to understand because there was a lot to it and a lot of technical aspects of it, that I don't have knowledge about. In this meeting, I also updated my Bitcoin lightning network slides to include the graph my supervisor wanted me to add. At the end of the meeting, my supervisor introduced my next topic, which is the Open Sea NFT marketplace. We then made a plan about when we would meet next since I have spring break and a school trip coming up. My supervisor said that he is most likely going to be busy on Monday and Tuesday before I leave, so I am waiting for him to update me on his schedule so I can plan my next meeting with him.

Yesterday, my high school had our Lunar New Year celebration. For the past three years, I have been organizing the celebrations. This year, the teacher who supervises my planning wanted to have our celebration with the middle school, so we can get more students involved. I thought this was a great idea, but I was at first worried about how we would accommodate a lot more people in our activities, as we would be going from about 110 people to 180. This meant that I had to purchase a lot more materials for each activity so that all students and faculty could get participate. We also wanted to make sure we all were staying together and really integrating middle school and high school. For Lunar New Year, we always provide lunch, so I thought it would be good to serve food in the middle school, then require that everyone eats in the high school or on the quad. This way, we were all staying together instead of separating into our building. I think that this worked well to keep us all togeth...

For the past two weeks, my school has been in A-Term. A- Term is a two-week period where we study something intensively for two weeks. There are group options and people can also do independent A-Terms. This year I did a San Francisco city study A-Term, with a group of students. We spent a week in San Francisco learning about the culture and different districts there. My favorite day that we spent in San Francisco was the day that we went to the Exploratorium, which is a science museum near Fisherman's Wharf. In the afternoon that day, we went to Golden Gate Park, where we explored the Japanese Tea Garden, did a 3-mile hike, saw bison, and went to the tulip garden. The park was so beautiful. I also really enjoyed our tour of Chinatown, because we got to learn a lot about the traditions and history of San Francisco's Chinatown. Traveling in a group is definitely quite difficult because it is a lot of people going to places together and I spent a whole week with people that I was...

As part of my school's Odyssey Week, we spend the day at Brazos Bend State Park. While we were there the school held a cooking competition, in which we were all split into groups of about six to nine people. At the beginning of the day, we got into our groups and worked together to figure out the meal we would be making. Since there were a lot of us, I had to make sure that I was actively listening to everyone's opinions and dietary restrictions. Listening is a very important skill for group work and I think that I was able to use that skill well when trying to figure out our meal plan. We all agreed on making chicken kabobs, salad, and smores. I and another person from my group then went to the store to buy all of the items we would need for our meal. Going to the store with another person was very beneficial because we were able to split up the work or calculating the prices and finding items, which made the whole shopping process go a lot quicker. I was als...
