Today I have a Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN) working session on bullying. A working session for MMUN is essentially a mini-conference where all the students just focus on one topic and work towards coming to a resolution. For this working session, I was a member of the bureau which means that I helped lead and facilitate the conference, along with my other bureau members. For this working session, we went through what an MMUN Conference would look like while the delegates discussed and came up with solutions for bullying. The delegates each represented an NGO and represented the belief of their NGO. The delegates decided on their subtopics and then were split into two breakout rooms on zoom. I was facilitating one of the breakout rooms. I helped guide the delegates to writing their resolutions, which included pre-ambulatory and operative paragraphs, which are part of how the UN writes their resolutions. We were able to finish a first draft of the resolution, but sadly we had no more time in the working session, so we were not able to go through the rest of the procedures. This student working session is important for global issues because it is important for young people to share their voices and speak up about issues that are important to them. I got to experience this as a delegate and I know get to work with these globally important issues as part of the bureau of MMUN.

I volunteered to do this for my supervisor so she could focus on the other things that needed to get done. I prepared a form that listed all the topics and their descriptions for the students. I had them pick their top three topic choices so that I can sort them into groups based on their topic choices. When I got their forms back I started working on sorting them all into their topics and committee sections, with the other interns that I work with. This process was quite difficult, because some topics did not have enough people that chose them, so some student...
