A LO#1

     Last Thursday I attended my Montessori Model United Nations Internship, with upper elementary students. This week they were working on their topic research so that they could start writing their position papers. I was helping the students find good sources, start writing their position papers, and answering any questions regarding their research and papers. After they worked for about 45 minutes, I presented some information to my group od students for the last 15 minutes. I explained some of the things they should and should not include in their position papers,  how to write the papers, and plagiarism. From this time at my internship I learned that I am pretty good at explaining things. I think I was able to communicate efficiently and effectively to the students. However, it can be kind of challenging to explain certain things at a level upper elementary students would understand, so I think I can work on being able to explain things to all age levels. I have also identified that I am pretty good at helping people and finding solutions to problem. An example of that from my internship is when a student was struggling to find resources and I was able to point them to websites that are reputable, and give then better questions to answer.

S LO#3

Yesterday, my high school had our Lunar New Year celebration. For the past three years, I have been organizing the celebrations. This year, the teacher who supervises my planning wanted to have our celebration with the middle school, so we can get more students involved. I thought this was a great idea, but I was at first worried about how we would accommodate a lot more people in our activities, as we would be going from about 110 people to 180. This meant that I had to purchase a lot more materials for each activity so that all students and faculty could get participate. We also wanted to make sure we all were staying together and really integrating middle school and high school. For Lunar New Year, we always provide lunch, so I thought it would be good to serve food in the middle school, then require that everyone eats in the high school or on the quad. A LO#5

       As part of my school's Odyssey Week, we spend the day at Brazos Bend State Park. While we were there the school held a cooking competition, in which we were all split into groups of about six to nine people. At the beginning of the day, we got into our groups and worked together to figure out the meal we would be making. Since there were a lot of us, I had to make sure that I was actively listening to everyone's opinions and dietary restrictions. Listening is a very important skill for group work and I think that I was able to use that skill well when trying to figure out our meal plan. We all agreed on making chicken kabobs, salad, and smores. I and another person from my group then went to the store to buy all of the items we would need for our meal. Going to the store with another person was very beneficial because we were able to split up the work or calculating the prices and finding items, which made the whole shopping process go a lot quicker. C LO#5

This past Saturday my school had our winter dance. I am one of the co-presidents of the fun committee, which is in charge of planning school events. For the dance, we went with a winter theme so we used decorations such as snowflakes and white trees. The dance was being held in my high school's west commons, which is a communal workspace, so we could not decorate until the day before. So on the Friday before the dance, I made a sketch of the entire space to start planning where all of the decorations would go and to be a guide to the people helping set up. I was really proud of this sketch because I am not the most confident in my drawing abilities, but I think it was very clear.
