Last Thursday I attended my Montessori Model United Nations Internship, with upper elementary students. This week they were working on their topic research so that they could start writing their position papers. I was helping the students find good sources, start writing their position papers, and answering any questions regarding their research and papers. After they worked for about 45 minutes, I presented some information to my group od students for the last 15 minutes. I explained some of the things they should and should not include in their position papers,  how to write the papers, and plagiarism. From this time at my internship I learned that I am pretty good at explaining things. I think I was able to communicate efficiently and effectively to the students. However, it can be kind of challenging to explain certain things at a level upper elementary students would understand, so I think I can work on being able to explain things to all age levels.        This weekend I volunteered to go take care of ducks and koi fish. I brought my sister with me to help me, as I forgot some of the things that I had to do. These ducks are koi fish were at my old school. The school got these ducks when I was in middle school and since then I have helped volunteer to take care of them over some weekends. To take care of these animals I have to feed them, clean the pond, refill the water buckets, and water the plants. When I got to my old school I started off my prepping the ducks and the fish's food. I then cleaned the koi pond, which was full of feathers and leaves. After doing that I fed the ducks and then the koi. While the koi were eating I had to keep the ducks out of the pond, otherwise, they would eat all of the fish food. After taking care of the animals I watered the plants in the school's garden. After finishing that, I refilled all the other food containers so that other people didn't have to do it that week. From thi...

As part of my school's Odyssey Week, we spend the day at Brazos Bend State Park. While we were there the school held a cooking competition, in which we were all split into groups of about six to nine people. At the beginning of the day, we got into our groups and worked together to figure out the meal we would be making. Since there were a lot of us, I had to make sure that I was actively listening to everyone's opinions and dietary restrictions. Listening is a very important skill for group work and I think that I was able to use that skill well when trying to figure out our meal plan. We all agreed on making chicken kabobs, salad, and smores. I and another person from my group then went to the store to buy all of the items we would need for our meal. Going to the store with another person was very beneficial because we were able to split up the work or calculating the prices and finding items, which made the whole shopping process go a lot quicker. I was als...
